Merisiel urged the party to explore the door on the other side from the main entrance. As the party was moving off a cloud of gas emerged from one corner of the water containing wall and Valeros fell to the ground! Kyra established that Valeros was merely asleep and did not seem to be deteriorating. The party was unable to do anything to rouse him. Obviously an enchanted sleep!

Kyra and Lem were unwilling to leave Valeros by himself so Kyra took it upon herself to carry him as we continue to search for the Flame.

Merisiel led off. Followed by Lem and Kyra. They went through the other door and followed the left hand wall. They entered a large room full of square pillars. The pillars effectively limited line of sight and made a kind of maze.

At one pause Lem decided to look down a line of corridor and narrowly managed to avoid falling as the floor collapsed beneath him! A trap! At the bottom of the trap Lem could see some sort of material. Almost looked like pillows?!?!

Merisiel requested we use a rope in case of further traps. So the party got out a rope and each member took hold. Unfortunately Merisiel was unable to avoid the next trap and fell in. Lem was dragged in with him as Kyra was unable to keep hold of the rope. They both found themselves at the bottom of the pit lying on cushions! In fact the cushioning was so effective that while both felt worse for the wear they both felt confident that given a few hours to working out the kinks in their necks they would be back at top form… (non-lethal damage)

Kyra then tied the rope around herself.

The party explored the room and found many more traps, a locked door and two switches in alcoves. Merisiel was unable to pick the lock although she was pretty sure there were no traps on the door.
Merisiel and Lem situated themselves at the switched and Kyra found a place where she could watch the door. Merisiel and Lem pulled the switches and Kyra reported that nothing happened. They tried different combinations to no avail.

They decided to check if the levers made any difference to the doors in the Water Room. No change.

On the return to the Square Pillar Room (SPR) Merisiel found one more lever! When a party member situated themselves one at each lever and pulled, they heard a noise… One round later the noise seemed to repeat… They checked the locked SPR door. No change! After experimentation it was established that the noise occurred after the last lever was depressed.

There was some distress that we may need a fourth conscious party member until they worked out that they could hang lanterns from two levers and situate a member near the door as the last lever was depressed.

Merisiel stood near the door and when it opened jammed a dagger between the bottom of the door and the floor. This successfully wedged the door open!
