Vor-wrek hugs the wall, entering the cavern unseen.
The others cautiously move in.
The humanoid figures hear something at the entrance to their lair and send in the goblins, turning around to pick up weapons - a dwarven waraxe and a heavy mace.
Moments later, the pair toss something towards the group at the entrance and two dark spheres appear, engulfing Yore and Rowaine. Inky stains swirl around the spheres in unseen currents, obscuring all contained within.
The goblins charge into the spheres. Krag kills one as it pops out the other side, Silque kills another.
One of the humanoids points at the area around Krag. Roots burst out of the floor and wall, entangling him and holding him firm.
Enok pulls out his dagger and helps cut Krag free.
Vor-wrek waits a moment or two, and sees one of the humanoid figures begin to advance toward the rest of the party. He charges in, axe notwithstanding.
Yore backs out of the sphere, runs around it and surveys.
Rowaine cries out in pain more than once from within the sphere, her torchlight utterly extinguished.
A goblin pops out of the darkness in front of Yore. He kills it.
Krag advances to support Vor-wrek. An exercise in flanking between the party and the two humanoids. Enok and Vor-wrek recognise one of them as Sarthen.
Rowaine backs up out of the sphere and rejoins Yore. She smacks down the last goblin with her lit torch. Sparks ensue.
Krag kills the axe-wielding humanoid.
Sarthen begins motioning again, so Vor-wrek strikes him down before anything else nasty can happen. All enemies down.
Search Sarthen and the other figure - Sarthen looks different. There appears to be what looks like scaly skin within his hairline. Enok removes his boots and reveals scaly skin and elongated toenails (claws?) on his feet.
The axe and mace that they used belonged to Rowaine and Krag.
The goblins had some treasure - gold and silver.
The boxes clustered around the right wall of the cavern contain foodstuffs and cloth. Behind then is a semicircular opening about 2' high and 5' wide.
Vor-wrek scouts the opening. Not 5' inside, he hears faint sobbing that he thinks is probably made by several young creatures not of any goodly race.
Vor-wrek and Enok re-enter the hole. It turns left and circles back to the right as it descends. About 40' later it opens into another earthen cavern, unlit. He can hear another voice speak words similar to those heard before - apparently intending to quieten the snivelling cries. It is largely successful.
Vor-wrek sneaks into the new cavern, Enok waits at the entrance.
Vor-wrek sees 7 or 8 small humanoid figures cowering on their sides at the far end of the cavern - he thinks they are goblins. Towering over them is a huge snake-like creature easily 20' in length with a girth approaching 2'. Its muscular arms hold a huge scimitar. Another such creature, smaller than the first, stalks in front of the first, occasionally barking angry commands and kicking at the small humanoids.
Vor-wrek makes like a shadow and observes for a minute. The smaller creature moves with malicious grace upon its two legs. The larger creature has no such lower limbs, and appears somehow … infirm? Its movements seem to tax the creature.
Vor-wrek retreats back to the hold and motions Enok to return to the higher cavern.
The group decide to send Yore back to the monastery to inform Sir Veketh of their findings.
